Fashion: Colourful Nails
Do you remember the days when having red nails was considered borderline vulgar – the marks of a somewhat loose woman? The days when the only acceptable colour were shades of pink and red? If like me you have always wanted to go a bit crazy with your nail colour but have never dared.. this is our chance. Nails are having a bit of a moment right now. Everything seems to be acceptable – from silver to neon to multicolour. A couple of years ago I went rogue and bought myself some neon coloured nail polish. The response I got from all and sunder was that they looked “chav.” Clearly I was just ahead of time…

Art: Lee Yung’s Neon Installations
At the moment I am really drawn to all sorts of neon text based installations. Lee Yung’s installations are perhaps my favorite of them all as I love the contrast between the neon lights and the natural setting in which she has placed them. Neon lights are something I associate very strongly with a big and bustling city, and to see them in such an incongruous setting like a meadow somehow adds even more weight to the words.
